Guitar players head up the Mercury Prize shortlist
This year's Mercury Prize shortlist is being led by bands and musicians who play the guitar.
A wide range of acts have received nods for the prestigious prize, with Biffy Clyro, Laura Marling and Mumford and Sons all making the list.
New acts such as The XX are named alongside established bands including I Am Kloot, who have received a nod for their Guy Garvey-produced fifth album Sky At Night.
Veteran guitar player Paul Weller picked up his second nomination for the album Wake Up The Nation, after getting his first stab at the award in 1994 when solo recording Wild Wild Wood was included in the shortlist.
Other acts that have the possibility of winning the coveted prize on September 7th, along with the Â£20,000 prize fund, include Dizzee Rascal, who has been nominated for the third time for his new album Tongue N' Cheek.
