Guitar legend Jimmy Page hails new stamps
Posted on 7 Jan 2010 14:00 to category : Music News

Electric guitar legend Jimmy Page has commended a new set of stamps from Royal Mail which feature classic album covers.
The collection includes memorable sleeves from acts such as The Rolling Stones, David Bowie, Blur and Mike Oldfield.
Page, who is best known for his work with Led Zeppelin, was on hand to launch the new stamps this week.
Speaking at the unveiling event, he took the opportunity to tell the story behind the classic Led Zeppelin IV sleeve - another of those distinctive album covers to be represented.
"Almost 40 years after the album came out, nobody knows the old man who featured on the cover, nor the artist who painted him," he commented.
This, he said, sums up what the band wanted to achieve with the album cover, as it has remained both anonymous and enigmatic at the same time.
Led Zeppelin IV features some of the band's best known material, including Stairway to Heaven, Rock and Roll, Black Dog and When The Levee Breaks.
