Guitar guest spots draw praise
Posted on 8 Jul 2009 11:31 to category : Instruments News

Velvet Revolver guitarist Slash has just added his unique Gibson Les Paul sound to a record by R&B star Estelle - a move that has inspired MusicRadar to hail similar collaborations in the past.
Eric Clapton's notable guest turn on While My Guitar Gently Weeps by The Beatles was hailed as one of the best examples of an inspired guest spot on another artist's album.
The Cream guitarist performed what MusicRadar described as a "beautiful wailing solo" on the song, which appeared on the White Album in 1968.
Aerosmith's collaboration with hip-hop act Run DMC was also praised, as the rock group's song was fused with the rap genre to create a brand new sound.
MusicRadar added that Dave Grohl of The Foo Fighters played a "shredding solo" when he appeared on Tenacious D's 2002 hit single Tribute.
