The musicians who will be heading with their music instruments to the 24th International Guitar Festival of Great Britain at Wirral have been revealed.

Midge Ure and Bill Wyman and the Rhythm Kings are among the big names performing while Edgar Broughton, Martin Simpson, Colorama, Dean Johnson, Simon Thacker, the Phil Chisnall Band, Martin Taylor’s Gypsy Journey and Woody Mann will also take to the stage over the course of the month-long event.

As well as performances from these guitar experts, there will be the opportunity for music lovers to take part in workshops and master classes from the likes of blues legend Catfish Keith and bluesman Woody Mann, while there will also be interesting panel discussions on issues affecting musicians and the industry.

The event kicks off on November 3rd and tickets to the various shows are available to purchase now. Venues involved with the festival include Birkenhead Priory, the Pacific Road Arts Centre and the Floral Pavilion Theatre and Conference Centre.

Festival director, Kate Carpenter, told Wirral News: “We are looking forward to a fantastic month of guitar concerts, workshops and family events.

“This is my first year as guitar festival director and I wish to thank my predecessor, Rob Smith for leaving a vibrant and musically important festival for me to explore and sustain through the stormy economic times ahead; a challenge and a pleasure that I hope to uphold for at least another 24 years!”
