Guitar band Bombay Bicycle Club have been nominated for prestigious accolades at this year's Ivor Novello Awards.
The London-based indie rockers are hoping to emerge victorious in the Best Album category for their recent record Flaws.
However, the group face stiff competition from BRIT award-winning act Plan B and his album The Defamation of Strickland Banks, as well as Manchester-based electric guitar band Everything Everything, who are nominated for their debut record Man Alive.
Elsewhere, Mercury Prize winners The xx, Tinie Tempah and Katy B will battle it out for Best Contemporary Song, while Kylie Minogue, Plan B and Scouting For Girls are all contending the PRS Award for Music Most Performed Work.
Lily Allen - who has since retired from the music industry to launch a fashion label - was the big winner at last year's ceremony, scooping the prizes for Songwriter of the Year, Best Song Musically and Lyrically and Most Performed Work for her track 'The Fear'.
The daughter of actor Keith Allen was also recently featured in a documentary about her setting up a shop in London with her sister, but took to her Twitter page to urge her fans not to watch it.Posted on 20 Apr 2011 11:33 to category : Band / Celebrity News
