Guerrilla orchestra heading to London
A guerrilla orchestra that has been putting on surprise performances across Europe is bringing its musical instruments to London this week.
Spira Mirabilis features a rotating line-up of musicians who play classical music in public spaces before putting on longer shows in nearby theatres, reports the London Evening Standard.
They have now been invited to play at the Queen Elizabeth Hall in the English capital on Friday (November 5th 2010) but are also going to put on one of their traditional guerrilla shows somewhere else in London this week.
One of the orchestra's co-founders and violinists Timoti Fregni said: "Our mission is not just to entertain, or to raise money, or for a social aim.
"It's music for music's sake and we're convinced it makes sense."
Next month, the orchestra is lined up for a series of shows in Italy, with Rome, Pisa and Modena all on its musical agenda for December.
