Green Day star hopes Rock Band game will inspire music playing
Posted on 8 Jun 2010 18:15 to category : Instruments News

Electric guitar player Billie Joe Armstrong has expressed his hope that the release of the Green Day: Rock Band computer game will inspire more people to pick up real musical instruments.
Speaking to MTV, the band's frontman said he believed the games help give younger people a chance to listen to music from the past they might not otherwise hear.
Artists whose songs feature in the series include the Ramones, David Bowie and The Clash, while The Beatles have their own dedicated game.
Armstrong said: "Though you're playing plastic guitars, I think it might even have inspired some people to actually go out and get real guitars and real drums and start to figure it out on their own."
Bass guitar player Mike Dirnt admitted that he finds the computer game fairly difficult to master and struggles to keep up when playing with his friends and their children.
