Government Gear Up to Investigate 'Unfair' Secondary Ticket Sales

Ticket Touts Prey on Artists' Most Devoted Fans

The Culture, Media and Sport Committee are set to host an evidence session into ticket touts and those harvesting tickets from online sites on 15th November.

Those who sell tickets second hand have recently experienced a backlash from artists and promoters alike. The recent condemnation of ticket touters has been cast to the public eye from artists such as Adele and Catfish and the Bottlemen, who have proposed that ticket touters and secondary ticket vendors are "systematically ripping off" genuine fans.

With the secondary ticket market benefiting primarily from sales of tickets to those who are the most genuine fans, many are citing them as unfair and opportunistic in their practice. The government are now going to be looking into these issues throughout a one-off evidence session.

Speakers who will be taking part in the event will be Ticketmaster chairman Chris Edmonds, Wildlife Entertainment's Ian Mcandrew, review author Michael Waterston and frontman of You Me At Six Josh Franceschi.

The meeting will be held in the House of Commons and will be available for streaming online.
