Gorillaz 'polish up' old tracks
Posted on 13 Aug 2010 07:00 to category : Band / Celebrity News

Gorillaz have joked that having live band members on stage doesn't work, as their cartoon forms are better looking.
The group did away with their animated alter egos for their recent live performances - with frontman Damon Albarn and the rest of the band joined by a string of guest vocalists - but bassist Murdoc Niccals thinks they made a mistake.
Murdoc - who is a cartoon mouthpiece for the 'Dare' hitmakers - said: "We've gone through so many incarnations live. At one point we appeared as holograms, but that didn't really work. This time the live musicians were visible, which I think is a big mistake because they're not as good looking as the real Gorillaz. But I guess you have to change things around a bit."
He explained the group plan to revisit some of their old tracks for their two-night stint at London's O2 Arena in November.
Murdoc added to Shop magazine: "Anything's possible. Who knows what'll wash-up on these shores live. I think we'll rework some of the material from the first album, polish up some tracks from 'Demon Days' and then unleash our latest glorious behemoth 'Plastic Beach'."
Damon recently blamed the band's poor reviews for their recent performance at Glastonbury festival on the group lacking human interaction.
He said: "We were yet to change the dynamic entirely from the cartoon band acting purely as a film orchestra into something that had more of a human element to it."
