Glen Matlock plays bass guitar for Primal Scream at Japan benefit gig
Glen Matlock stepped in to play the bass guitar for Primal Scream last night (April 3rd) as they performed at a benefit concert for victims of the recent Japanese earthquake and tsunami.
The former Sex Pistols man took the place of normal bassist Mani for the band's set at the O2 Brixton Academy, with the band airing several songs from their Screamadelica album, reports NME.
Others to play at the show included Beady Eye, Graham Coxon, Paul Weller and The Coral, while Kelly Jones from the Stereophonics and Richard Ashcroft dug out acoustic guitars for their performances.
A number of Beatles covers were played during the evening, with The Coral opting for Ticket to Ride, Beady Eye choosing Across the Universe and Weller and Jones collaborating on Come Together.
"Thanks for coming tonight and helping our brothers and sisters in Japan," Weller told the crowd.
Beady Eye were recently forced to reschedule their sold-out tour of the country following the disaster, moving dates originally planned for May back to September.
The group said they were disappointed, but promised their fans in the country that the shows will have been worth waiting for when they eventually take place.
