Gibson to create special Alabama-shaped guitar
Posted on 15 Sep 2010 15:27 to category : Instruments News

A musical celebration being conducted by the US state of Alabama is being marked with the creation of a special Gibson guitar.
The renowned instrument-maker's custom shop has been commissioned to craft a guitar in the shape of the state, commemorating the Year of Alabama Music which is taking place this year.
Musicians will be seen playing the special Gibson guitar in TV and print advertisements, while artists performing concerts in Alabama next year will also be given the chance to use the instrument.
Bob Harrison of the state's marketing agency said the creation of the guitar will help to draw attention to the "rich musical tradition" of the region.
He explained: "We want people to be aware of Alabama's musical legacy from blues to country, jazz and so on."
Earlier this month, it was reported that the state will be allocating some of the money provided to it following the recent BP oil spill to bring famous guitar band Motley Crue to its BayFest music festival.
