Gibson teams up with Rainforest Alliance
Posted on 27 Jul 2010 17:01 to category : Instruments News

Gibson is teaming up with the Rainforest Alliance (RA) to help ensure that all of its guitars are environmentally sound.
As part of the agreement between the two organisations, Gibson's sourcing of its wood supply chain is to be reviewed, with plans to identify any potentially illegal or unsustainable material and remove it from the manufacturing process.
Gibson will also use wood certified by the Forest Stewardship Council (FSC), with its progress in this goal being independently audited by the RA.
The musical instrument manufacturer's chairman and chief executive officer Henry Juszkiewicz has also created a new post within the company, with the employee's remit including leading Gibson's wood sourcing initiatives across the world.
Earlier this year, Adam Newman, manager of Vintage & Rare Guitars, told the Gibson website that its guitars could make a good investment.
He pointed out that Gibson Les Paul Standards from the 1950s can now be worth hundreds of thousands of pounds.
