Gibson praises John Mayall
Posted on 20th Oct 2009 22:00 to category Band / Celebrity News
Gibson has hailed the longevity of electric guitar player John Mayall, who reaches the age of 76 next month.
The blues guitarist has been playing for more than half a century and has performed with greats such as Peter Green of Fleetwood Mac and Eric Clapton of Cream.
According to Gibson, age has not slowed Mayall down and today he is still prolifically releasing new material and touring constantly.
The electric guitar manufacturer also noted that Mayall's voice still has the same ability to "chill the soul" as it did in the last 1960s.
Both Clapton and Green played Gibson Les Pauls during their time with John Mayall and the Bluesbreakers.
The same type of electric guitar was also used by Green's replacement Mick Taylor, who went on to replace Brian Jones in The Rolling Stones.
Mayall has also recorded with names including Steve Miller, Billy Gibbons, Jimmy McCulloch, Jack Bruce and Mick Fleetwood.
