Gibson pays tribute to Les Paul
Posted on 30 Dec 2009 22:00 to category : Instruments News

Some of the world's top electric guitar players gathered in Miami this week to pay tribute to the late Les Paul.
The guitar innovator passed away earlier this year at the age of 94.
Gibson has paid tribute to the music legend by assembling a band of guitar players to perform a Half Time show at an NFL match between Miami and Houston.
Orianthi, the Australian guitarist who is best known for her work with Michael Jackson, was part of the line-up, along with Brian Ray from Paul McCartney's touring band.
Rick Nielsen of Cheap Trick also took part in the performance, which included a rendition of (I Can't Get No) Satisfaction by The Rolling Stones.
The show also saw Orianthi evoke memories of the late Jimi Hendrix by performing a "stellar rendition" of the Star Spangled Banner.
Over 100 children took to the pitch at the stadium during the show, brandishing their own Gibson and Epiphone Les Paulelectric guitars while the band played.
