Gibson hails rocking Christmas songs
Posted on 2 Dec 2009 14:30 to category : Instruments News

Electric guitar manufacturer Gibson has flagged up some of what it believes are the best and heaviest seasonal tunes.
According to the company, being bombarded with lightweight festive songs complete with children's choirs and jingle bells is one of the worst things about this time of year.
However, Gibson said plenty of alternatives for electric guitar lovers do exist, such as Father Christmas by The Kinks.
Ray Davies and co were praised for coming up with a festive song that features a "thumping" garage rhythm and a fuzzy guitar solo.
Jimi Hendrix's renditions of Little Drummer Boy, Silent Night and Auld Lang Syne, which were recorded during a gig rehearsal in 1969, were also singled out for attention.
Gibson added that even The Beatles came up with a festive tune, although Christmas Time (Is Here Again) was only made available to fan club members before appearing as a b-side in 1995.
Rick Parfitt of Status Quo is the latest rocker to release a festive record, as he has collaborated with Rolf Harris on Christmas in the Sun.
This comes after the Fender Telecaster player released It's Christmas Time with his Quo bandmates last year.
