Gibson hails Pete Townshend's guitar playing
Posted on 20 May 2010 16:30 to category : Music News

The Who's electric guitar player Pete Townshend has been singled out for praise by Gibson.
Townshend has regularly used instruments such as the Gibson Les Paul and GibsonSG throughout his long career.
According to the manufacturer, the sight of him playing these guitars is one of the defining images of the rock 'n' roll genre.
Indeed, his windmill stance has become iconic and copied by many other guitar players over the years.
"Townshend perfected his classic, big-boned sound on the Gibson family of guitars, and he's played many over the years," the musical instrument manufacturer noted.
This includes the Gibson ES-335, a Les Paul Special and a Les Paul Black Beauty.
He has also been seen playing a Gibson Flying V on many of the band's albums.
The Who first rose to prominence in the 1960s with hits such as I Can't Explain, My Generation and Pictures of Lily, before enjoying further success in the 1970s with Behind Blue Eyes, Won't Get Fooled Again, Squeeze Box and Who Are You.
