Gibson hails Jimmy Page
Posted on 22 Dec 2009 16:00 to category : Instruments News

Gibson has praised one of the most famous exponents of its instruments - electric guitar player Jimmy Page.
According to the manufacturer, Page has proved to be a highly influential musician who delivered "classic guitar sounds" on records such as Led Zeppelin's debut album.
This was partly down to his unusual recording set-up, designed to take advantage of the natural ambience in the room.
"Until then guitars were typically recorded with one microphone set right in front of the grill cloth," Gibson said.
"But Page insisted on using multiple microphones."
The manufacturer went on to praise Page for helping to "elevate the cache" of the Gibson Les Paul.
Indeed, he can be seen playing the electric guitar on hundreds of what it described as "iconic" live photos.
Jimmy Page has openly expressed a desire to reform Led Zeppelin since the band's one-off reunion gig at the O2 Arena two years ago.
However, Robert Plant has so far ruled out the possibility of going on a full tour, preferring instead to concentrate on his collaboration with Alison Krauss.
