Gibson guitars 'used to record Exile on Main Street'
Posted on 18 May 2010 09:31 to category : Music News

guitars were central to the recording of classic Rolling Stones' album Exile on Main Street.
The 1972 record, which is being reissued in a remastered format this week, is one of the band's best-known and most-loved records.
Taking a look back into the history of the album, Gibson.com writer Ellen Barnes stated that many of the photos of the Stones taking around the time of the recording show Keith Richards and Mick Taylor with guitars such as the ES-335 and Hummingbird in hand.
"One rare shot, as captured by French photographer Dominique Tarle in his book Exile, depicts an almost exclusively Gibson lineup that includes an SG and Flying V," the music journalist added.
Last week, Richards told the Independent that his autobiography is set to be published this autumn.
The electric guitar player stated that writing the book had been an interesting experience, as he interviewed the key people in his life to get their memories of different events they had shared.
