Gibson guitars 'can be a smart investment'

While most musicians opt for a Gibsonguitar because of the quality of the company's musical instruments, there is another potential reason to buy one of their products - money.
According to Adam Newman, manager of Vintage & Rare Guitars, Gibsoninstruments are likely to prove to be a worthwhile investment in the long run.
He told the instrument manufacturer's website: "Late Fifties Gibson Les Paul Standards bought for a few hundred dollars could be worth well over $300,000 (£199,441)."
His comments were backed up by Darren Julien, the president and chief executive of Julien's Auctions.
Mr Julien said that Gibsonguitars are an important part of the history of pop culture and many investors see the musical instruments as a safer investment than stocks or bonds.
Earlier this year, the popularity of the instrument manufacturer was confirmed after more than 100,000 people downloaded Gibson's free iPhone app - which allows users to tune their guitars and access chord charts.
