Gibson begins work on Les Paul and SG Special tribute guitars
The company said it decided to manufacture the electric guitars following the success of the Les Paul '50s Tribute it released last year.
It claimed the response to the limited run of the model was "overwhelming", making it one of the most sought-after instruments of recent times.
Gibson said it has built on the success of last year's Les Paul remake when looking at its new productions.
"Both guitars take their cues from classic historical models, but add a simplicity in design that strips away all pretensions and gives the player a lighter, less-costly, easier-to-play instrument that still retains the elegance of the original designs," said a statement from the company.
According to the electric guitar manufacturer, the Les Paul Studio will embody the look and tone of the original versions from the 1960s, while being priced at a level which is affordable to musicians of today.
