New York Dolls guitarist Sylvain Sylvain has praised the Gibson Les Paul Junior as being the ideal fit for his pioneering punk band.
In an interview with Gibson's Ted Drozdowski, the musician revealed that he was initially drawn to the instrument because he could not afford models such as the Les Paul Black Beauty.
However, he soon found out that the Junior was the right axe for him.
"It was the perfect guitar for the New York Dolls because it was stripped down - like the band was and like our songs were," he remarked.
Sylvain added that he used to refer to the instrument as an 'automatic guitar' because it was so easy to use.
He and former bandmate Johnny Thunders are two of the best known Les Paul Junior players of all time.
Other famous musicians to have utilised the instrument include Green Day's Billie Joe Armstrong and Mick Jones of The Clash.
