Gibson ES-335 'helped Bernard Butler produce dazzling guitar work'
This is the view of music journalist Russell Hall, who has listed Butler among the top ten glam rock guitar greats.
Writing on the Gibson website, Hall put Butler among the likes of Brian May of Queen and T.Rex's Marc Bolan.
"Employing a 1960 ES-355 as his main instrument, the London-based Butler falls squarely in a British six-string lineage that also includes Mick Ronson and Jeff Beck," the article said.
Hall added that Suede songs such as Animal Nitrate and Metal Mickey match up to the best work of Bolan and David Bowie.
Last month, Butler was praised by solo artist Kate Nash for his guidance in producing her new album.
She said he had introduced her to many of the girl groups that have had a major influence on the sound of the record.Posted on 5 May 2010 16:45 to category : Music News
