George Michael to feature orchestra in European tour
Entitled Symphonica, the tour launches in Prague in August and will see the former Wham! frontman re-imagine some of the classic songs he is most famous for as well as covering his own favourites.
The tour will include 12 dates in the UK, which includes the Royal Albert Hall, the Royal Opera House Liverpool, Newcastle, Manchester, Birmingham, Cardiff, Sheffield and Glasgow.
Speaking at a press conference at London's Royal Opera House, Michael said: "The idea of singing with this kind of backing has been attractive to me for a very long time. I feel very re-energised after some of my recent troubles and as an artist I'm not interested in repeating former successes."
He also confirmed to reporters that during the tour he would be working on a new album as he travels.
His last studio album was the critically-acclaimed Patience, released in 2004. It reached the top spot in the album charts and became one of the fastest selling albums in the UK, selling over 200,000 copies in the first week alone.
