George Harrison 'the most influential guitarist of all time'
Posted on 27 May 2010 13:34 to category : Instruments News

George Harrison probably inspired more people to pick up a musical instrument than any other artist in history, it has been suggested.
According to the Gibson website, Harrison was the perfect guitar player for The Beatles because of his ability to perform different musical styles, from roackabilly and country to the blues.
"If judged solely by the number of people who picked up a guitar for the first time because of his music, George Harrison is the most influential guitarist of all time," the website said.
Despite this, Harrison has only made it to number 11 in the musical instrument manufacturer's ongoing countdown of the top 50 guitarists in history.
Gibson has just announced positions 20 to 11, with the likes of Prince, Jack White and Stevie Ray Vaughan getting places on the prestigious list.
Earlier this week, acts ranging from Les Paul to Kurt Cobain were also named in the top 50.
