George Harrison 'extremely attached to his Gibson Les Paul'
Beatles star George Harrison recorded several of his contributions to the Fab Four's canon on a Gibson Les Paul.
The musical instrument was created in 1957 and name 'Lucy', after popular comedienne Lucille Ball, explains Gibson Lifestyle blog contributor Ted Drozdowski.
Harrison received the Gibson Les Paul in 1968 from Eric Clapton, with the musical instrument being utilised on The Beatles' recording sessions for the White Album.
The Les Paul has an important role in the history of rock and roll, as it was also used by Clapton when he made While My Guitar Gently Weeps.
Harrison employed it during the making of both Let It Be and Abbey Road as well.
The star also used a 1964 Gibson SG Standard for much of his work in The Beatles, with this instrument featuring on Revolver and Rubber Soul, as well as in the videos for Paperback Writer, Lady Madonna and Rain.
Earlier this week, Gibson named Harrison's bandmate Paul McCartney as the best bass guitar player ever.
It said that he is the most influential musician to be known for playing the instrument, despite only taking the job in The Beatles by default after original member Stuart Sutcliffe left.
