Gary Lightbody's 'natural' music
Posted on 26 Jul 2010 07:00 to category : Music News

Gary Lightbody's new music is "nothing like" Snow Patrol.
The Northern Ireland-born singer confesses his side project Tired Pony - a collaboration with REM's Peter Buck - is more "natural" than his other band, as each song only took two takes to get right.
He said: "It's nothing like Snow Patrol, because I approached it differently.
"It was all very natural. We did each song in two takes, with everyone in the same room. As soon as we'd finished the song, we felt like a band. It was fast, free and fun - the three Fs!"
The 34-year-old 'Just Say Yes' hitmaker also revealed he has long been a fan of country music and he knew he would make a record in that genre at some point.
He told the Daily Mail newspaper: "I love those bands that look at the darkness in America.
"And I knew in my heart that I'd one day make an American sounding album - a twisted love letter to the States."
The singer recently admitted while he doesn't know how well the country music album will be received by Snow Patrol fans, it was something he had to "get out of his system".
He explained: "I don't know whether people will dig it or not. It's just something I wanted to get out of my system."
