Frusciante files restraining order against fan
John Frusciante, the former electric guitar player from the Red Hot Chili Peppers, has filed a restraining order against a woman he alleges is stalking him.
The musician said that he was first approached by August Elizabeth Thomas last year and has since been harassed.
She told him that she was looking to write a screenplay about the electric guitar player's life and despite being rebuffed, allegedly wouldn't take no for an answer.
In the document that was filed in LA, Frusciante said that the 32-year-old woman then began sending aggressive letters and emails, which were described as being "long, rambling and overly emotional".
She even turned up at his home and at gigs.
In the lawsuit, he wrote: "I fear both for my safety and for my wife's safety. Given that my wife and I are musicians and often play at venues around the world, it is hard for us to avoid M. Thomas if she is free to continually show up to harass us."
The case will go to court later this month.
Frusciante's former bandmates are currently preparing for the launch of their tenth studio album, I'm With You.
