Fray star 'writes songs on an acoustic guitar'
Joe King of The Fray has said he rarely writes a song from start to finish on an electric guitar.
However, he told the Gibson website that this is not always the case, adding that the instrument used in the writing process can sometimes influence what is used on the actual record.
"There have been a few occasions where the sound of the guitar is what made the song stick," King commented.
For example, he said he wrote Say When, a track on The Fray's latest album, on a Les Paul Junior and ended up using the instrument on the final cut.
"The sound was perfect," King noted.
He added that with other songs, he sometimes has to hunt for the right guitar that offers the tone he is looking for on a particular track.
The Fray are currently gearing up for a series of European gigs, which includes one date at the Royal Albert Hall in London.Posted on 3 Aug 2009 15:00 to category : Instruments News
