Frank Skinner to record new World Cup song?
Frank Skinner wants to record a new anthem for England's 2012 World Cup bid.
The comedian was behind European Championship 1996 song 'Three Lions' with comedy partner David Baddiel and The Lighting Seeds, which has topped the UK singles chart twice, is helping a new version of the song be re-worked for this year's World Cup, but said he is also considering writing a entirely new record for this year's tournament in South Africa, and is considering writing it on a ukulele and singing in Italian for Fabio Capello.
The Birmingham born comedian said: "Sometimes I'd think I should just write a completely new one, and see if I could do it with a different song - rather than doing it with the same one. Maybe I should do that with my ukulele.
"Maybe one in Italian just for the manager."
Frank is also surprised that 'Three Lions' will shouldn't be released for a fifth time - it also charted at number 16 in 2002 and number nine in 2006 - as they've already sold so many copies.
He added: "I think everyone who has any vague interest in football owns it which is one problem. And also we can't get any more blood out of that particular stone."Posted on 23 Apr 2010 07:00 to category : Band / Celebrity News
