Foo Fighters to release cover album in support of Record Store Day
Electric guitar band Foo Fighters are bringing out a special album to show their support of Record Store Day.
The LP will be full of cover songs and is to be a vinyl release entitled Medium Rare.
Foo Fighters have put their own spin on songs such as Paul McCartney's Band on the Run, Prince's Darling Nikki and Have a Cigar from Pink Floyd.
It will be made available in shops participating in Record Store Day, which falls on April 16th this year.
Ozzy Osbourne has recently been named as the ambassador for the 2011 campaign, which encourages people to shop in independent music outlets.
Foo Fighters will also be bringing out their seventh official album Wasting Light next month.
The LP is to arrive in stores on April 12th after its opening single Rope was released at the beginning of March.
Wasting Light was produced by Butch Vig, who collaborated with the group's frontman Dave Grohl in his days as the drummer in Nirvana.
The album was recorded entirely on analog tape in the garage of Grohl's home in California and features an appearance by his former Nirvana bandmate Krist Novoselic.
