Foo Fighters' Producer Praises sE Electronics Mics
Award-winning producer, Gil Norton, is a self-confessed fan of sE Electronics Microphones saying, "...there's a mic that suits any need."
Norton has worked with some of the biggest names in the business, including Pixies, Echo and the Bunnymen, Foo Fighters and Counting Crows.
In 2008, Norton celebrated a Grammy award alongside Foo Fighters for producing their album Echoes, Silence, Patience & Grace which won 'Best Rock Album'.
"I used sE ribbons with the Foos. Other ribbons tend to lose it in the higher frequencies but the sE's handle it perfectly."
Discovering the sE Electronics range by way of his engineer, Adrian Bushby, Norton now uses the Reflexion Filter, Gemini, Titan and 4400a mics to name a few.
"In fact I can't remember a single session over the last 5 years on which I haven't used an SE mic" said Norton.
Also as an avid fan of the sE Reflexion Filter, Norton says, "It is a good one for me. I thought it was a great idea."
When recording vocals for Counting Crows, Norton had a Reflexion Filter sent over to New York's Avatar Studios, he said "it really helped take the boxiness off the vocal."
Now celebrating a top-flight production career that spans 25 years, and with a busy few months ahead, Norton is "just enjoying it and looking forward to the future."Posted on 21 Oct 2010 10:47 to category : Instruments News
