Foo Fighters' Hawkins 'contributed to new Queen compilation'
Taylor Hawkins, known for his expertise on the drums with Foo Fighters, has assisted with an upcoming compilation of rare Queen songs.
Legendary electric guitar player and Queen star Brian May worked alongside bandmate Roger Taylor and Hawkins to piece together the upcoming release, Deep Cuts Volume One 1973-1976.
It will feature songs that appeared on the band's early albums, some of which fans may not have previously discovered.
The release is one of five remastered reissues that will be unveiled via the Universal record label on March 14th to mark the group's 40th anniversary.
Tracks personally selected by the trio include Ogre Battle, Lily of the Valley, Good Company, My Fairy King and The March of the Black Queen.
Fans of the band - perhaps best known for hits such as Bohemian Rhapsody and Under Pressure - should stay tuned throughout 2011, with further releases in groups of five lined up for June 13th and September 5th.
It is hoped the release will "dig a little deeper" than Queen's 'Greatest Hits' compilation, which has sold 5.7 million copies to-date in the UK alone, according to the band's website.
