Focusrite Clarett OctoPre Mic Preamp Launch
The Clarett OctoPre is the latest product from Focusrite, and features an eight channel microphone preamplifier with 118 dB dynamic range, low noise, and precision 24–bit/192 kHz A–D/D–A conversion. This innovative preamp is perfect for studio use, and is ideal for extending the capabilities of a Clarett interface.
The Clarett OctoPre includes Focusrite's switchable ‘Air’ effect, giving your microphones the air and clarity of an ISA transformer–based mic preamp, which can be switched in or out on a channel basis. Phantom power is also provided with the Clarett, switchable in two groups of four channels giving you great versatility and great power.
As well as this, the OctoPre also features two front–panel instrument inputs, an insert point on every channel and eight balanced line outputs that can be fed directly from either the mic preamps or from the ADAT inputs.
This easy to use preamp features a basic layout with six-segment LED meters, plus per-channel clip indicators next to the channel level controls. Along with a host of functional buttons, select Insert and Air are used in conjunction with assign buttons under the channel level controls, plus two buttons selecting the front panel instrument inputs on channels 1 and 2. With this entire package fitting into a single 1U chassis and with its full host of versatile features, the Clarett OctoPre sets the standard for modern, microphone preamps.
