Florence and the Machine planning 'ethereal' second record

Florence and the Machine are gearing up for a return to the studio.

Florence and the Machine are beginning to put together their second album following the massive success of debut record Lungs.

Speaking to BBC 6 Music, lead singer Florence Welsh revealed that one song, Strangeness and Charm, has already been finished and regularly features in the group's live shows.

She added that the Gothic theme of Lungs is likely to be replaced by a more atmospheric and "ethereal" feel on the next record.

Welch said that it had been difficult to practise for how the new record should sound due to their touring commitments.

"We used the hotel wall as a bassdrum once, but that is not a good idea for keeping hotel people happy," she joked.

In March, Welch told NME that she is planning to play the guitar on the next Florence and the Machine record, as she did on early songs such as Kiss With a Fist.
