Florence Welch broke down in tears on stage in London last night (15.07.10).
The Florence and the Machine singer - played an emotional show as part of the Summer Series at Somerset House in London where she visibly wiped tears from under her eyes and told the crowd she was having break from live concerts to work on new material.
Introducing a new track, she said: "I just got weirdly emotional backstage. I'm sorry.
"This is my last London show in a while. I've got to go away and write some new songs. But this is a taster. It's called 'Strangers and Chants'."
Even as she was performing to the star-studded crowd - which included Noel Gallagher, Melanie Blatt, Jamie Winstone and Daisy Lowe - the 23-year-old singer looked visibly upset as her eyes welled up as she belted out her hit singles.
Before the performance, former Oasis star Noel - who was relaxing in the VIP bar with his long-term partner Sara MacDonald - admitted he couldn't wait to see Florence live for the first time.
He exclusively told BANG Showbiz: "I'm looking forward to seeing her. It should be good, man. We're here because my missus is a huge fan. She loves her.
"Have I listened to her album? You'd have to have been hiding under a rock to miss it!"
Sara - who is heavily pregnant with their second child - also admitted she had been preparing Noel for the evening's show by belting out her favourite tracks on the way down to the venue.
While Noel affectionately rubbed her pregnancy bump, she said: "I love her! I was singing her stuff to Noel in the car on the way down."
