Field Music: We're not rich
Comprising mainly of brothers David and Peter Brewis, the Sunderland team of musicians revealed to the Guardian that they were far from millionaires and sometimes only earned £5,000 a year.
The interview dispelled the myth that everyone who is a "name" is the music business is rich – it's only the megastars that get snapped up by brands that make lots of money.
"We don't spend any money so we can do what we want," Peter told the newspaper, explaining how they make do.
"And if that's harder work, then it's the price of being free, "added David.
Field Music also discussed their unease about what they do, with Peter recollecting at a recent school reunion how embarrassed he felt at being a musician because everyone else worked hard at their nine to five jobs.
"In my job I swan around getting my picture taken for the paper," he added.
Earlier this month they released Plumb, which is a follow up to their 2010 LP Field Music (Measure).
