br /> Musicians are being urged to take to the streets with their instruments next month to raise money for Cancer Research UK.

The Busking Cancer is also being backed by singer Rod Stewart and Madness singer Suggs.

Stewart - former frontman of The Faces - has fought cancer himself in recent years and is calling on musicians to support the fundraising drive.

"If you can earn a few quid for Cancer Research UK - a few quid that might just help to save someone's life - what could be better?," he commented.

The singer added that his musical career started out by busking on the streets in the early 1960s.

He said being a great singer or musician is not a necessity, as buskers mainly need to have the ability to entertain people.
