Fender Stratocaster guitar signed by The Shadows goes missing
Posted on 22 Feb 2010 18:30 to category : Instruments News

A rare Fender Stratocasterguitar signed by Hank Marvin and Bruce Welch of The Shadows has been stolen.
A police investigation is now underway into the disappearance of the rare guitar, valued at around £5,000, which occurred in November last year.
The Fender Stratocasterguitar was sent in error to a man in Worcestershire but it disappeared on its journey to its rightful owner based in Sussex.
PC Andrew Forbes told the Bromsgrove Echo that the police were now convinced the item had been stolen rather than simply being mislaid and appealed for its safe return.
He stated that the current owner may not know it had been taken unlawfully as it is likely the guitar has been sold on several times.
"A Stratocaster like this would be highly prized and is unmistakable due to its unique red and white design and a certificate of authenticity," said PC Forbes.
The Shadows are one of the most successful British groups of all time, recording hits such as Apache, Wonderful Land and Dance On during the 1950s and 1960s.
