Ex-Van Halen guitarist praises new project
The former Van Halen star - who famously endorses Yamaha electric guitars - is now working with ex-Van Halen bassist Michael Anthony, as well as Chad Smith of the Red Hot Chili Peppers and guitar virtuoso Joe Satriani.
Speaking to Billboard, he said he had been feeling stuck and stagnant before forming this new band - a supergroup of established musicians along the lines of Blind Faith and The Firm.
"I just got to a point where I felt I needed to grow," Hagar commented.
"We're all on the same page so much in this band it's scary."
Indeed, Hagar said he does not believe his new record would be half as good as it is without the input of his esteemed colleagues.
He added that his collaboration with Satriani has yielded some "amazing" material, some of which he described as Led Zeppelin-esque.
