Ex Motörhead electric guitar player dies aged 61
Michael 'Würzel' Burston, the former electric guitar player from Motörhead, has died at the age of 61.
The band paid tribute to their former mate during their performance at the Sonisphere Festival at Knebworth House.
They told the audience: "We'd like to dedicate this set and our lives to Würzel."
It is believed he died of ventricular fibrillation, which is brought on by heart disease.
Würzel first joined the iconic British heavy metal band in 1984, going on to record on albums including No Remorse and Organisation.
He left in 1995 and was never replaced. They remain a three-piece band today.
The musician parted on good terms and went on to make guest live appearances, much to the fans' delight, at gigs and festivals, including the Download Festival in 2008.
His nickname came from his time with the army because he was said to have resembled the cartoon character Worzel Gummidge.
He came relatively late to the music business.
"I knew deep down that the only thing I would really be happy doing was playing rock'n'roll," he once said, "but I did think, 'I'm 30 years old – am I going to do anything? How am I going to carry on playing these pubs forever?'"
