'Every outdoor rock event since' has been fuelled by Woodstock
Posted on 11th Aug 2009 12:37 to category Music News
Artie Kornfeld, co-founder of Woodstock, has said that concerts like Live 8 owe a debt to Woodstock.
Talking to The Daily Telegraph, Kornfeld and and colleague Michael Lang have commented how Woodstock paved the way for music festivals as large as the Concert for Bangladesh (1971), Live Aid (1985) and Live 8 (2008).
Described by Time Magazine as the greatest peaceful man-made event in history, Kornfeld believes the anniversary is focusing people on problems we still have today.
Live music is such a miraculous work of art that the founders of Woodstock believe that such events hold a unique power and hope.
Events such as Live Aid and Live 8 take the desires for change and project them to a mainstream audience, something Kornfeld and Lang believe began with Woodstock.
