Evanescence's 'all out war'

Former Evanescence guitarist Ben Moody has finally explained why he quit the group after an ''all out war'' with singer Amy Lee in shortly after they achieved mainstream success.

Former Evanescence guitarist Ben Moody said he quit the group after an "all out war" with singer Amy Lee.

The goth pop rockers achieved worldwide success in 2003 with their hit 'Bring Me To Life' but fans were left confused when founding member and key songwriter in the group Ben suddenly left, after reportedly falling out with the band's other remaining founder, Amy.

In a long statement the guitarist - who now fronts We Are The Fallen, with two ex-members of Evanescence - explained how he felt he had to leave after the pair's creative relationship went sour by the time they went on tour for their 15 million selling debut album, 'Fallen'.

He wrote: "I believe we both contributed to the resentment of the deterioration of our friendship that quickly turned into a downward spiral of animosity, conflicting opinions, and a very volatile environment. By the time we went on tour to support 'Fallen', it sadly was over.

"Ironically, it was Amy and my absolute equal devotion to Evanescence that drove us to such extreme opposition. We had such opposing desires and personalities that mixed with the pride of youth and inexperience led to an all-out war.

"On the night of October 22, 2003 everything came to a head. As I sat on the bus that night in absolute shame and defeat, there was no escaping the truth. Either I leave or Evanescence dies.

"It broke me in a way I could never truly describe. My entire existence, my self worth, my identity was this music, this band. If my life is to mean anything, Evanescence has to mean something."

Amy and Evanescence continued without Ben and have gone on to release a second album 'The Open Door'. We Are The Fallen released their debut album 'Tear the World Down' earlier this year.
