Eric Clapton donates electric guitar collection to charity auction
Eric Clapton is to donate part of his extensive collection of electric guitars to a charity auction.
The star's instruments, along with guitar amps and speakers, are to go under the hammer in New York next year to raise money for the Crossroads Centre in Antigua, a drug and alcohol rehabilitation clinic set up by Clapton in 1998.
Among the highlights of the sale is the electric guitar he used while playing in 2005's Cream reunion shows, which is expected to fetch more than £13,000, reports BBC News.
In a 2004 auction, a record $959,500 (£607,500) was raised when Clapton's 'Blackie' Fender Stratocaster was sold off.
Guitars for the forthcoming sale have also been donated by the likes of Jeff Beck, Joe Bonamassa and JJ Cale.
Earlier this month, Clapton was handed a place in Gibson's list of the top 50 most revolutionary artists of all time, appearing in 42nd position.
