Eric Clapton 'a brilliant acoustic guitar player'
The manufacturer has revealed the first ten names on its Top 50 Acoustic Guitarists of All Time list, and Old Slowhand came in at number 41.
Correspondent Bryan Wawzeneck explained that many of his younger followers grew up listening to his work on the acoustic guitar due to his Grammy-winning 1992 Unplugged album.
He noted that although he made his name as a blues player on the electric guitar in the 1960s, albums such as From the Cradle earned him a whole new legion of fans.
"The man formerly known as God proved his divine talents translated brilliantly when stripped down – his tasteful solos and clever licks shining through on Robert Johnson covers or a reworked version of Layla," Mr Wawzeneck commented.
Clapton is set to tour the UK and Ireland next year, with dates in London, Glasgow, Belfast, Cardiff and Dublin pencilled in for throughout May 2011.
