Epiphone acoustic guitar used by Hendrix to be auctioned off
An Epiphone acoustic guitar owned by Jimi Hendrix is to be sold at auction next month.
The instrument was purchased by the star in New York when he was a struggling musician in the 1960s and accompanied him when he moved to a flat in London, reports the Sun.
Despite only being purchased for around £15 by Hendrix, his use of the instrument means it is expected to fetch around £150,000 when it goes under the hammer at Bonham's of London.
The star's ex-girlfriend Kathy Etchingham said he had been very attached to the Epiphone instrument.
"Jimi loved that guitar - he played it constantly," she explained.
It is not the first time one of Hendrix's guitars has been auctioned off.
In September 2008, the Fender Stratocaster he famously set alight on stage at the end of a gig in London in 1967 was sold for £280,000 to an American music collector.
