Epic music instruments remain locked up in storage
The bounty of musical instruments, which includes a very fragile harp-piano, horns, a three-row harpsichord and saxophones, is currently housed in a Michigan storage vault, which the Associated Press reported as having water-stained ceilings.
They were donated to the University of Michigan by Frederick Stearns, a businessman who used to like collecting exotic objects and artefacts.
Collectively, the music instruments are said to be worth a cool $25 million (approximately £16.35 million).
"The only way I can characterize it is Tut's Tomb, because it's been so forgotten about for so many years," said Steven Ball, director of the Stearns Collection of Musical Instruments.
"The collection has been in a holding pattern for 112 years. This is a national treasure - it deserves the dignity of either being properly housed ... or to be dispersed in such a way that it could be. "
Other instruments include a Moog synthesizer, a Swiss-made music box and several items with an Asian and African origin.
