Eminem hits the magic one million digital sales for album Recovery
Eminem has made music history after his seventh studio album Recovery became the first record in the US to sell over one million digital downloads.
The rapper, whose ability to "spit verbal rhythms" poetically over the microphone has made him a household name across the world, had already sold four million physical copies of his 2010 album.
His record company, Interscope, said that it was an "incredible achievement by an incredible artist."
Paul Rosenberg, Eminem’s manager, added in a statement: "Over the years we've made a concerted effort to engage Em's online fan base, so this achievement is especially rewarding. Eminem made an amazing album with ‘Recovery’ and the fans responded in record numbers."
It has been an amazing year for the 39-year-old Detroit hip hop star who struggled for a while to generate the same artistic credibility that catapulted him to stardom.
Recovery is seen as a return to the form of his earlier albums like The Slim Shady LP and The Marshall Mathers LP.
Eminem his known for his close personal and professional relationship with hip producer and legend Dr Dre.
British singing sensation Adele is also set to reach the one million sales milestone in the US with her album 21.
