Emeli Sande wins big at Brit Awards
The Scottish singer scooped the title of Best Female Solo Artist and best British Album for her chart-storming debut Our Version of Events, at the bash at the O2 Arena in London.
Sande was in good company at the Brits with singer/songwriter Ben Howard also having a highly successful night. He picked up the award for British Breakthrough Act as well as British Male.
Mumford and Sons and The Black Keys were also in attendance claiming the British Group and International Group titles respectively. The former played a stunning version of I Will Wait taken from their latest album Babel.
One Direction also wowed audiences with a medley of Blondie's One Way Or Another and The Undertones' famous track, Teenage Kicks. The boy band also collected the Global Recognition prize for their unparallel success across the world.
Adele collected the British Single award for her track, Skyfall, taken from the new James Bond film, and was even given enough time to finish her acceptance speech after being famously cut off during last year's event.
