Elvis Costello donates Gibson guitar to charity raffle
Posted on 23 Jun 2010 16:00 to category : Band / Celebrity News

A Gibsonguitar has been donated by Elvis Costello to help support youth music projects in Liverpool.
The veteran singer gave away a guitar from his personal collection, which will be raffled to raise money for live music venue The Picket.
This will help to support various projects that encourage young artists to pursue their interest in music and showcase their talents.
Speaking to the Liverpool Echo, Costello said: "Without these venues, we wouldn't have a music scene."
He stated that even the most successful bands initially needed someone to "open that door" and give them "their first chance".
Costello added that he feels "very strongly" about the issue, as it has always been difficult for bands to get gigs at big-paying venues.
The singer, who is due to play at Liverpool's Philharmonic Hall next week, rose to prominence in the late 1970s and has notched up hits including Oliver's Army, Pump It Up and I Can't Stand Up For Falling Down.
