Ellie Goulding tops BBC Sound of 2010 list
Acoustic guitar player Ellie Goulding has emerged at the top of the BBC's Sound of 2010 list.
The singer-songwriter, who has been described as a combination of Bjork, Stevie Nicks and Kate Bush, won out ahead of other emerging stars such as Marina and the Diamonds and Delphic.
Radio One presenter Huw Stephens has been among those to champion Goulding's music, as it could have very broad appeal.
"She is great on an acoustic guitar and can write these beautiful songs," he told BBC 6 Music.
"Her hybrid of electro, pop and acoustic songwriting is stunning."
Stephens said she is also going to be very popular with fans of dance music, especially as some remixes of her material have been "absolutely banging".
Goulding added that her songs are about all sorts of subjects, such as love, heartbreak and tales of other people.
She also noted that some of her lyrics tackle modern issues such as how technology can take over a person's life.Posted on 8 Jan 2010 11:55 to category : Music News
